Absentee ballots are available 45 days prior to the State Primary and General Elections. A completed and signed absentee ballot application (PDF) must be received before a ballot can be issued to a voter. Absentee ballots must be returned to the Freeborn County Auditor-Treasurer’s office no later than 3 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted.
Voters may also vote by absentee ballot in person during the 45 day absentee period at the Freeborn County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office, Freeborn County Courthouse, 411 Broadway Ave. S, Albert Lea, MN. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except legal holidays. In addition, the office is open the Saturday preceding the Primary and General elections from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for absentee voting.

For applications received prior to 3 p.m. ballots will be mailed the same day.
For applications received after 3 p.m. ballots will be mailed the next business day.
