Freeborn County is currently open for in-person services. The County has made several modifications to the public spaces in the Government Center to assure we can safely provide services to county residents.
Residents are asked to be patient as there will likely be lines for some services provided, resulting in varying wait times.
All visitors will be screened and face coverings required GOVERNMENT CENTER:
The hours of operation will be as follows: License Center 8am to 4:30pm
Veterans Services 8am to 4:30pm
All other departments will be 8am to 5pm
All access will be through the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) doors.
All other doors will remain locked.
All visitors will be asked to maintain social distance of 6 ft in all areas.
All areas will have 6 ft designated boundaries.
The License Center is now open with no appointments necessary.
County Security will limit access to the License Center and have visitors wait
in the lobby until there is room in the License Center area. There WILL be waiting times for the License Center.
Freeborn County will continue to maintain the drop boxes for all departments
in the LEC lobby, as well as on line and mail in services.
We highly encourage you to utilize these options whenever possible.
DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES (DHS):
Freeborn County Department of Human Services will have walk-in hours as follows: Monday through Friday from 9am – 2pm.
Clients and visitors will be asked COVID screening questions upon arrival.
Please stay home if you are sick, as you will not be allowed to enter the building.
Masks are required inside the building. Those not wearing masks will be not be served.
Services will continue to be provided remotely, as appropriate. Appointments are strongly encouraged.
Contact your worker or the front desk (507.377.5400) to schedule an appointment.
You are encouraged to continue using the drop box outside of the Clark Street entrance.
FREEBORN COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS:
Public Works will resume office hours from 7am to 3:30pm.
FREEBORN COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS:
At this time, the Fairgrounds remains closed.
This plan will be very fluid and adjustments will be made as needed.
The Freeborn County Board of Commissioners ask that the public be patient during this transition.
