After the birth of their child every woman in Freeborn County and her newborn are offered a home visit.

At the new mom and baby visit we:

• weigh the child
• discuss feeding
• address sleeping issues for both mom and baby
• explore other developmental and safety concerns
• if you are breastfeeding, we provide basic breastfeeding education and support
• refer to the Certified Lactation Educator at Public Health or the Lactation Consultant at the Albert Lea Medical Center as needed
• explore any concerns mom has and assess for postpartum depression
• discuss the support that the new family has or needs and refer to the available community resources.
