Event: 38th Annual Freeborn County American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon
Benefit: 100 mile bicycle ride fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
This is the longest running Minnesota ACS benefit and the only Bike-A-Thon fundraiser.
The traditional course leaves from Sibley warming house going to Glenville, Myrtle, Hayward, Geneva, Hartland, Freeborn, Alden and Conger before returning to the finish at the Sibley warming house again in Albert Lea.
Pledge cards are available at Albert Lea community schools, Hanson Tire, KATE Radio, Martin’s Cycling and Fitness and Wells Fargo Bank.
Riders collect pledges prior to the ride. Ride registration will be held at the Skyline Plaza on Thursday, April 29th or Friday, April 30th from 4 PM to 7 PM or at Sibley Warming House before the ride starts, Saturday morning, May 1st.
Bike-A-Thon volunteers will provide safety coordination during the event. Busses and trucks are available to pick up riders in case of severe weather exposure. Volunteers on the route assist with rides in case of mechanical problems, attendants will address any minor injury or health concern that may arise. Scheduled relief check points are provided to allow for rest and nourishment during this day long event.
After the Bike-A-Thon event, we host a Bank Night: this year on Tuesday, May 11th from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Participants turn in the pledges they have collected to Wells Fargo Bank.
Once pledges have been collected, we will host a Prize night, this year on Tuesday night, May 25th at 6:00 PM at the Skyline Mall. Participants will be recognized for various categories including most pledges raised, oldest rider, youngest rider, and other categories.
