Effective September 1, 2022, Freeborn County land records will be updating the access policy of the county’s land records. A contract will be required for monthly access beginning September 1, 2022. You may still use the option of a one time use credit card payment fee as is currently in place. Please note you will have a $2/per document view and the credit card company charges a convenience fee of 3% or a minimum of $2.00. Responsibilities

The Recorder's Office is responsible for processing, recording and indexing real estate documents, issuance of vital records (birth and death certificates and marriage licenses), and recording of notary public commissions and letters of ordination.

Location

The office is located on the first floor of the Freeborn County Government Center in the center of the South Annex, between Public Health, Auditor / Treasurer, and Assessor.
