Transports/Court Security

The sheriff’s Office employs six full-time and four part-time licensed deputies and one unlicensed deputy who have the combined responsibility of court security as well as transporting inmates to and from Freeborn County Detention Center and Court.

Court security deputies are responsible for the safety, security and protection of judges, court staff, and the general public along with maintaining decorum in the courtroom. Deputies provide courtroom security and protection during all hearings, trials and whenever court is in session. As part of court security, deputies screen everyone coming to court for weapons and contraband.

​ Transport deputies have the responsibility of providing safe transports for local, state and federal inmates. Transports are conducted for a variety of purposes including: Medical appointments, court hearings, juvenile housing, civil commitments, prison and warrants.
