Absentee ballots are available 45 days prior to the ISD #241 (Albert Lea Area Schools) Special Election beginning September 17th. A completed and signed absentee ballot application (PDF) must be received before a ballot can be issued to a voter. Completed application can be returned by mail, email or fax.
You may also request an application be sent to you by mail by contacting Freeborn County elections at (507) 377-5121 or email elections.
Completed absentee ballots must be returned to the Elections office no later than 3:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 2nd in order to be counted.
For applications received prior to 1:00 p.m. ballots will be mailed the same day.
For applications received after 1:00 p.m. ballots will be mailed the next business day.
Absentee Voting In Person
Voters may vote absentee ballot in person during the 45 day absentee period at the Freeborn County Auditor-Treasurer's Office, Freeborn County Government Center, 411 Broadway Avenue South, Albert Lea, MN.
In person absentee voting hours are:
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday from September 17th to November 1st.
