The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office has one K-9 team. Deputy Kody Needham has been assigned as the K-9 handler and is partnered with K-9 Chase. Chase is a German Shepard. Deputy Needham and Chase are trained in the detection of narcotics, evidence searching, building searching, tracking, and criminal apprehension. Chase assists deputies on a variety of calls and can also serve as a deterrent when he is brought to a scene. Deputy Needham and Chase certify annually in the detection of narcotics and patrol through the United States Police Canine Association.
K9 Stalker retired from the Freeborn County Sheriff's Office in 2023. His handler was Deputy Josh Partlow.
