Breastfeeding Class

Prenatal Breastfeeding Classes

Mothers and babies are designed to breastfeed. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that breastfeeding continue for at least 12 months, and thereafter for as long as mother and baby desire. The World Health Organization recommends continued breastfeeding up to 2 years of age or beyond. This one-session class, designed for both the pregnant mother and her support person, provides important information and support for successful breastfeeding, taught by a certified lactation specialist.

Topics Covered

  • Celebrating the mom / baby breastfeeding bond
  • Breastfeeding basics
  • How to identify and handle possible challenges of breastfeeding
  • How to know when to call for breastfeeding consultation
  • Pumping and returning to work or school

We recommend you take this class between 30-38 weeks of pregnancy.
